What to Expect at Your First Visit
A step-by-step guide to your child's first dental appointment
Warm Welcome
When you arrive, our friendly team will greet you and your child. We'll handle any paperwork and answer your questions. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in.
Meet & Greet
One of our team members will introduce themselves to your child at their level. We take time to build trust before any dental work begins.
Gentle Exam
We'll count your child's teeth, check for cavities, and look at their bite. For younger children, this might happen in your lap! Parents stay with their children throughout.
Cleaning & Fluoride
If appropriate, we'll do a gentle cleaning and apply fluoride to strengthen teeth. We explain everything to your child in kid-friendly terms.
Education & Plan
We'll discuss our findings with you, share tips for home care, and create a treatment plan if needed. Questions are always welcome!
Prizes & Smiles
Every visit ends with a trip to our treasure chest! Your child leaves with a new toothbrush, a prize, and hopefully a big smile.
What to Bring

- Medical history and list of current medications
- Previous dental records (if transferring from another dentist)

Tips to help make the experience positive
Read Books About the Dentist
There are many wonderful children's books about visiting the dentist. Reading together helps normalize the experience and answers questions in a fun way.
Play Pretend
Practice counting teeth with a stuffed animal or doll. Let your child be the "dentist" too! This role-play reduces fear of the unknown.
Keep It Positive
Avoid words like "hurt," "shot," or "drill." Instead, focus on how the dentist helps keep teeth healthy and strong. Your calm attitude makes a big difference!
Schedule Wisely
Book appointments when your child is well-rested and fed. Morning appointments often work best for younger children who may get tired later in the day.
Promise Something Fun
Plan a small treat or activity after the visit - a trip to the park, their favorite lunch, or extra storytime. It gives them something to look forward to!
